DESIGN-IT-YOURSELF Home Study Program

Enjoy the freedom of designing a personalized home study program for your child. When it comes to independent learning, we believe there is no "one-size-fits-all." Unschoolers, parents with gifted children, and parents with special needs children all enjoy the flexibility of our program.

Parents enrolled in the DIY Home Study Program use any curriculum, online classes, or other educational resources of their choosing to design a course of study that fits the unique learning style of their child.

The parent purchases all curriculum and/or materials, designs the course of study, and implements the home study. Branson Academy maintains all student records, reports and transcripts for the family and provides whatever support is needed by parent or student.

Step-by-Step Instructions and K-12 Instructional Package.

Branson Academy provides all reporting forms, instructions on how to use them, the California course of study requirements, and Step-by-Step instructions to assist parents in planning a home study program.

Each family receives our K-12 Instructional Package - a 100+ page How To for Independent Study! We've compiled over 20 pages of outstanding products in the resource section alone to help you find curriculum materials, science supplies, math manipulatives, and a variety of other homeschooling aids. Our online Members Only page is updated annually with great products and resources, too.

DESIGN-IT-FOR-ME Home Study Program.

We custom design a single course, several courses, or a full year of studies for you. Tell us what you want, and we'll create it!

Step One: We ask parents to complete a questionnaire and participate in a telephone consultation. The telephone consultation is usually a 1/2 hour to 45 minutes and will help us determine your student's special needs, abilities, learning style, graduation requirements, and your budget.

Step Two: We at Branson Academy do all the research, order all the texts or resource materials, (see Step 3 below) and prepare a 36-week lesson outline for you. Traditional textbooks, online classes, unit studies, and other resources that match your student's preferred learning style will be considered. We usually try to include choices for library materials and/or used book options to help reduce the costs of materials.

Step Three: The parent approves all course material before we order anything! The student receives a spiral bound 36-Week Lesson Outline to go with his/her course material.

Step Four: The parent implements the home study program and follows the standard quarter or trimester reporting process.

Cost: The design fee is in addition to the Annual Registration and is currently $495 for three custom designed courses, plus the cost of curriculum materials. Upon agreement of our services, the design fee is non-refundable.

All textbooks and teaching resources are ordered and billed after parent consultation and approval. Depending on grade level, courses chosen, and type of materials, the costs vary between $250 and $800 for the year including shipping.

As of May 15, 2010 design fees will be restructured as follows:
  • $495.00 for one/two custom courses
  • $895.00 for three/four custom courses
  • $1295.00 for four-five custom courses (Typically a full year of academic studies.)

  • Textbooks or other curriculum costs are in addition to design fees.

Interested in a Custom Designed Course without enrolling? Let us know! We'd be happy to design a course for your student.

    High School Diploma Programs.

The Basic High School Program meets the requirements of the California State Education Code.

The Advanced Program is the suggested course of study patterned after the admissions guidelines for most colleges and universities. It gives a student proper preparation for entry into the higher academic rigors of college study and also provides a broader range of study and preparation for life.

The Accelerated Program is a path to early graduation for students who plan to complete a high school level course of study as early as age 16.

To receive a high school diploma from Branson Academy, Inc, a student must be currently enrolled in the Academy, and have been in our program a minimum of two of his/her high school years, or be able to show compliance of having completed credits required for prior years. A diploma is awarded to those students who complete the high school graduation requirements for one of the above programs.

Comprehensive records maintenance for your family.

We take the worry and hassle out of record keeping and maintaining transcripts so you can focus on what is important - teaching your child. We fulfill the legal requirement of maintaining student health and attendance records, grades and transcripts, and portfolio files.

We provide all the records and forms you need, request student records from previous schools if needed, and provide transcripts and diplomas when a student transfers or graduates from our program.

Flexible Independent Study Program. No parent-teacher meetings! No monthly reports!

We are a non-campus based program. The unique nature of our Independent Study Program means there are no parent/teacher meetings. Reports are required only four times a year - on a quarterly basis - this allows us to maintain the integrity of our stewardship to the State. All forms are provided upon enrollment. (Non-compliance in submitting forms will result in expulsion from the program with no refund of fees.)

K-12 Instructional Resources and Online Support Services.

Our K-12 Instructional Package contains 100+ pages of outstanding resources and information covering teaching your own child, learning styles, homeschooling through high school, and 20+ pages of resources. All the information you need to get started using our flexible Independent Study Program.

We offer years of experience, information and support year round by e-mail or phone.

    Teach your own child.

Whether you call it homeschooling, unschooling, independent study, or teaching your own, you, the parent, retain the right to instruct your own child in your own home "satellite" classroom.

You choose the teaching methods that best fit your child, and even the study schedule that works best for you and your family. You can give your child the flexibility of completing a course of study at his or her own pace.

Instruction may be provided through group classes, private lessons, mentors, field trips, online courses, tutors, or personal instruction. Choose textbooks, reference and resource books, manipulatives, lab equipment, project kits, art materials, purchased curriculum, unit studies, public libraries, museums, galleries, and other community resources that fit you and your family.
